Terms and Conditons of Membership

THE RULES

The Bar at 55 Whitefriargate Ltd also known as ‘Bar55’ or ‘The Club’.

Membership to The Club is not restricted to any particular industry or social circle. Instead, members are chosen based on what they can bring to the party; in short, people with a story to tell. 

In order to preserve our unique ambience, members are required to adhere to our accepted standards of conduct and our ClubRules to safeguard the enjoyment and use of The Club by all its members. 


THE COMPANY 
1.1 Each member contracts with The Bar at 55 Whitefriargate Limited (The Company). The Company reserves the right to charge members an annual subscription fee and for admission to The Club and the right to waive or amend such fees or subscriptions from time to time at The Company’s sole discretion. 

YOUR MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION 
2.1 By completing and submitting your application for membership, you agree to be bound by the The Club rules. 
2.2 The management shall have sole discretion as to who shall become a member of The Club. The Company reviews memberships periodically and admits new members when space is available. 
2.3  Membership to the Club is by invitation or enquiry. Membership is open and must be applied for online using this service. It is preferred that an existing member acts as a proposer and puts you forward for application; however, this is not essential. Prospective members may be invited to meet the Manager. They will be shown around and the rules will be discussed. A decision will be made once the application form has been duly completed, with payment details, and after the application has been reviewed by the management.
2.4 Prospective members must be 18 years at the time of application.
2.5 Membership does not guarantee entry. Sometimes the club may be booked for a private function or at capacity or closed. 
2.6 We always advise that you book a table. 
2.7 Privilege Membership is by invitation only once members reach an annual spend defined by The Company. Only Members will be invited to become a Privilege Member.
2.8 The Company reserves the right to change membership types and benefits at any time and for any reason.

PROPOSING NEW MEMBERS 
3.1 All current members can propose new members. Your proposed member can also apply via our website stating your name on their application. 

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL 
4.1 Membership is for a minimum period of 12 months.
4.2 Membership renewals are processed automatically. 
4.3 Requests for cancellation of membership must be made in writing 30 days before the annual date of the renewal. Member fees are non-refundable.

MEMBERSHIP PROFILE 
5.1 It is important that we have your current details including a recent photograph on your membership profile. By becoming a member of The Club, you agree that we can hold your personal details and a photograph of you for us to use in connection with your membership. 
5.2 The Club is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of all member information. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure all of the information we collect.

PAYMENTS 
6.1 Upon submitting your payment details, your membership fees for the first year will be taken. It is within our discretion to amend our membership fees at any time; we will notify you no less than 30 days prior to your renewal date. 
6.2 Failure to pay the annual subscription will result in the member not being admitted to The Club and the membership being suspended. If payment is still not received after 30 days the membership will be terminated. 
6.3 Membership can be cancelled within 14 days from the payment date and a full refund will be processed to the bank details provided by the member upon cancellation request. A penalty fee will be applied to any cancellation after 14 days from the payment date. Cancellation approval depends on the duration and status of the membership. Cancellation within 14 days of the payment date will incur a fee amounting to any discount received during that term.
6.4 The annual fee payable by a member is published on our website.
6.5 In the event that a former member should apply to re-join the Club, they will still be expected to pay the current annual fee.
6.6 A joining fee is applicable: however, this is waived where membership applications are submitted by the self-service portal. 
6.7  An administration fee of £20 will be payable for any unpaid membership payment subscriptions. 
6.8 If a member or their guest causes the loss, damage or destruction of any such property as described above, the member shall bear full responsibility for making good all resulting in any loss. 
6.9 Membership discounts do not apply to ticketed events, special offers and promotions.

RESIGNATION OF MEMBERSHIP 
7.1 Should you wish to resign your membership part way through the year, no refunds will be given.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS 
8.1 All membership cards should be handed in to the reception of The Club to gain entry. Members may also be asked to present membership cards in order to open a tab at a table or the bar. 
8.2 Should any member allow his or her card to be used by a non-member, such non-member will be denied access to, or removed from The Club and the member whose card is used may face suspension or termination of their own membership. 
8.3 Discounts will only apply on the production of a valid membership card.
8.4 Please notify us immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Replacement cards must be paid for at £25 inc VAT.

GUESTS 
9.1 Members are permitted to bring up to three guests with them to The Club when arriving without a reservation. Members are reminded to be aware that during very busy times, access may not be available without a reservation. 
9.2 Members may exceed their three-guest limit when booking a table in advance. The number of guests will be limited to the number of seats at the table reserved. 
9.3 Members are responsible for ensuring their guests follow all Club Rules and policies and can face suspension or termination of their membership should their guests violate such rules or policies. 
9.4 Members introducing guests are wholly responsible for their conduct and must ensure that their guests abide by the Rules of the Club.
9.5 A member should inform the Club of their guests’ early arrival, as admittance to the Club shall not be permitted otherwise.
9.6 Guests may remain in the Club once the member has left the premises. However, the member remains responsible for their guests. 
9.7 Non-members are welcome to The Club on some events and occasions. Typically, these will be ticketed events. Non-members will be subject to the same codes of conduct as detailed in these terms and conditions. 

CHILDREN 
10.1 Children (under 18) are not permitted on the premises unless supervised by a member. 

DRESS CODE 
11.1 The Club has a sensible approach to dress. We assume that all members will dress in a manner suitable to their environment. 

PRIVACY 
12.1 Members and their guests must not approach, disturb or solicit others in The Club with whom they are not acquainted. 
12.2 The Club has controlled access and alarms and  ​CCTV both inside and outside of the building. All members agree to and understand that they will be monitored and their details stored on CCTV for security and safeguarding purposes.

MOBILE PHONES 
13.1 To protect our convivial atmosphere, we request members and their guests to be respectful in their phone usage. Texting is permitted throughout.

CAMERAS & RECORDING DEVICES 
14.1 Cameras may be used within The Club for taking photos of yourself and your guests. Members must not take images of other members or their guests without permission and are asked to ensure that their guests adhere to our cameras policy. 

LAPTOPS, TABLETS, AUDIO & VIDEO 
15.1 Movies, videos, songs, presentations and all other audio must only be played through headphones and should not be audible to any other member or guest present. 
15.2 Laptops and tablets are not to be used in The Club after 8pm. 

PERSONAL PROPERTY
16.1 Property is entrusted by a member or his guest to a member of staff for safe custody or any other purpose entirely at their own risk.
16.2 Any items found in the Club after closing will be recorded in the lost property book, held for 28 days from the date found and then disposed of.
16.3 No member shall remove, damage or destroy any artwork, item of furniture or any other articles belonging to the Club.
16.4 There is no facility for members to store personal belongings. Please remove all personal belongings at the end of the day.

CONFIDENTIALITY 
17.1 The Company management and staff are required to adhere to the strictest confidentiality standards and pledge to maintain all records and personal information concerning the members and their guests in the strictest confidence. 

DRUGS 
18.1 The Club has a strict zero-tolerance policy on drug use. 
18.2 No member or guest shall purchase, use, ingest, possess, sell or distribute illegal drugs or attempt any of the above on the premises. 
18.3 If any member or guest is proven to have violated rule 18.2. the member will immediately have their membership terminated and their details may be passed to the police. 

BILLS 
19.1 All bills must be settled in full before leaving The Club. There are no credit facilities unless via prior approval by the management. Members are responsible for their guests’ bills if they are not paid. 

FOOD & BEVERAGE 
20.1 Members and their guests are not permitted to bring any outside food or beverage onto the premises unless medically necessary. 

ENTERING & LEAVING THE CLUB 
21.1 All members and their guests are asked to respect our nearby residents by being quiet when entering or leaving The Club or whilst in the surrounding area, including when using the smoking area. 

ANIMALS 
22.1 Animals are only permitted in The Club during specific times and by prior arrangement except for legally recognised and certified assistance dogs. 

COMPLAINTS
23.1 Any incident that may occur in the Club or immediately outside the premises that involves a member, or the guest of a member, should be reported immediately to the General Manager, or to the manager on duty.
23.2 Aggressive or abusive behaviour towards staff, members or guests of members will not be tolerated, and expulsion from the Club will be immediate.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE 
24.1 Conduct by a member or guest that is prejudicial to the reputation of The Club may result in the expulsion of such member or guest. 
24.2 The Company reserves the right to refuse service for any reason at any time.
24.2 An expelled member may not return to The Club as a guest.
24.3 If the member has their membership revoked by Management, there will be no refund of any fees paid.
24.4 The Company reserves the right to retain expelled members' details for 7 years. 

LIABILITY OF THE COMPANY 
25.1. All items brought into The Club are brought and left entirely at the risk of the member or their guests. The Company, its servants and/or agents shall not be liable to any member or guest for any loss, damage or injury suffered by them or their property howsoever caused, save in respect of death or personal injury to a member or guest to the extent caused by the negligence of The Company, its servants and/or its agents. This is not intended to affect any mandatory rights a member or guest may have under local law that we cannot legally restrict or exclude. 

AMENDMENTS TO THE CLUB RULES 
26.1 The Company may change the club rules from time to time, by displaying notification of the change on the website. 

BINDING EFFECT OF THE RULES
27.1 Every member shall be bound by these Rules.
27.2 Please also familiarise yourself with our privacy policy. 

MEMBERS' BUSINESS ZONE
28.1 A fair use policy applies to the access to our Members' Zone including the Meeting Room, drop-in desks and business services including: WiFi, printing & free refreshments. These are occasional use services. Should you require permanent office facilities, please contact admin@bar55.co.uk and we can arrange for you to be shown around the available office space.
28.2 The Members' Zone, including the drop-in desks, are non-bookable and available on a first come first served basis. 
28.3 The Meeting Room must be booked and approved in advance.
28.4 The Members' Zone is a self-clear facility: please ensure that you clean up after yourself, discard any waste and put any used cups/glasses etc. into the dishwasher.
28.5 The Members' Zone is typically available from 8am to 7pm. It is accessed by an entry fob and digital lock which will be supplied upon induction at the commencement of membership.
28.6 You may not use The Club as: a mailing address, a registered company address, or a billing address; nor are we able to receive deliveries on a member's behalf.
